The governor of Campeche, Layda Sansores San Román, stated that the accusations of a 300,000-peso bribe involving Alejandro Gómez Casarín, the president of the local Congress’ governing board, to three Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) lawmakers, are the result of an agreement between Alejandro “Alito” Moreno Cárdenas and Eliseo Hernández Montufar.
Sansores San Román indicated that the bribery scandal was orchestrated by Hernández Montufar, former MC candidate for the governorship of the state, and Moreno Cárdenas, national leader of the PRI and former governor of Campeche.
When questioned about the issue by local media at Campeche International Airport, Sansores said, “Eliseo wants to continue controlling the Congress, making pacts with Alejandro Moreno, like the other PRI leader,” and added, “Alito and Elito are the same, and it’s clear, the leader of the chamber—what is that? They’re doing it on purpose, openly.”
The state governor referred to the statements made by the leader of the local MC, Daniel Barreda Puga, regarding the 300,000-peso bribe that Morena allegedly paid through Gómez Casarín for three lawmakers to vote in favor of the state government’s initiatives, calling them disrespectful to the congress members.
Barreda Puga announced on January 28 the expulsion processes of the three MC lawmakers, Fabricio Pérez, Abigail Gutiérrez, and Elías Baeza Aké, for their alleged dealings with Morena.
It is worth noting that on January 31, Sansores San Román appointed Gómez Casarín’s wife, Teresa Mejía Ortíz, as the state secretary of Well-Being.
